This summer a number of events and activities will be taking place across the county to mark this date in history, and Cambridgeshire County Council and partners plan to coordinate them under The Home Front theme.

As part of The Home Front: Cambridgeshire Commemorates the end of WW2, small grants of up to £500 will be awarded to local groups and organisations to support community activities linked to and inspired by the 70th anniversary, wartime Britain and the 1940's era.

Cambridgeshire County Council's Deputy Leader and Chairman of the Cambridgeshire Community Covenant (Military) Board, Councillor Mac McGuire said "We'd encourage any residents or communities groups that are thinking of organising something to get in touch or consider applying for one of our grants. Between May and September this year there will be an opportunity for Cambridgeshire residents to come together to remember the wartime effort."

The deadline for applications for each round are 9 February and 9 March. More information and the grant criteria can be found here.
