Lizards, lambs and even tarantulas will be on show at South Angle Farm Park's special open day in Soham - one of Cambridgeshire County Council's more unusual farm tenants.

The Cambridgeshire County Farms Estate, which comprises 13,400ha and 216 tenant farmers, is the largest of its kind in England and Wales and offers unique opportunities for rural businesses

The Estate has always had some interesting tenants, but now creatures such as lizards, snakes, minibeasts and tarantulas are joining more traditional animals to call one of the farms home.

In October 2012, David and Liona Woricker joined the estate and moved to a smallholding at South Angle Farm, Soham. Since moving in, they have transformed the range of redundant buildings on the farm to create an education resource for the east of England.

On Saturday 19th April, South Angle Farm Park is having its official open day. South Angle Farm Park is a reinvention of the traditional farm park and petting zoo experience.

The official launch event, for specially invited guests, members of the media and the general public will kick off from 10am. There will be opportunities for photos with lambs, piglets, new-born rabbits, foals, ponies, alpacas, pygmy goats, lizards, snakes, minibeasts and tarantulas.

The farm is not usually open to the general public but instead visitors pre-book their family, class, group or organisation and the whole farm park is exclusively theirs to enjoy. They still have all the fantastic animals and activities that you would expect but your whole experience is presenter led and hands on.

South Angle Farm Park has been developed by and run by Lion Learners Educational Experiences Limited who provide animal education events across East Anglia, Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and the Midlands. It has been made possible through the assistance and support of Cambridgeshire County Council, DEFRA and the EU.
