A team of local professionals are aiming to put a spring into people’s step by helping them jump into a new career, start up a business or find work.
The event, the Skills Springboard, will include professionals from local businesses and organisations offering hands on advice for free.
It’s taking place at St Ives Corn Exchange on 5 June between 10 am and 3 pm. There will be a range of workshop that people can attend, including, writing online applications, advice on business start-ups and CV writing. There will also be an opportunity to network at a lunch with local businesses and organisations too.
The event has been put together by the Enterprising Communities Partnership, which includes Cambridgeshire County Council, CHS Group, and the Fredericks Foundation working with local businesses.
Wendy Lansdown, Community Engagement Programme Manager at Cambridgeshire County Council, said: “The Skills Springboard is the perfect place to help you gain confidence. Professionals will be on hand to provide advice on job searching, starting a new business and there will be a chance to meet local organisations at out networking lunch. It’s an exciting opportunity, so if you are looking to change course with your career, why not book a place?â€
Ed Goodman Director of the Cambridge Business Lounge who is supporting the event, added: “With nearly 17,000 unemployed across Cambridgeshire, events like The Skills Springboard are invaluable. It’s providing people with the confidence and groundwork needed to find work or start their own business. It’s going to be a real value adding event for anyone who needs the support, and it’s an honour to be part it. I’m also looking forward to being a part of this new journey for anyone who attends.â€
Andrew Church at CHS Group, said: “CHS is delighted to be involved with the Skills Springboard. What's good about it is that there will be something for everybody whatever their circumstances - all from friendly, knowledgeable people. I'd encourage you to give it a go.'
