Soham Library will be thrown into
As a way of engaging young volunteers to help with the event, the library has worked with the County Council’s Early Help team and Soham Village College to deliver a ‘Zombie School’ workshop on Friday 19 October. Developed as a tutorial on how to be a zombie, the workshop included face paint and other horror makeup, costume design, and drama sessions to rehearse a zombie walk. The walk took place down Soham high street on the afternoon of Monday 22 October with a horde of zombies descending on the town, inviting everyone to visit the Haunted House on Halloween.
This Haunted House event evolved from a suggestion received during engagement sessions that were held with the local community over the summer, where people said they wish to see more events tailored for young people at Soham Library.
Sue Wills, Cambridgeshire Library Service Manager said: “Our Haunted House is not for the fainthearted! We’ve embraced the community’s suggestion and designed this event to appeal to those who enjoy a fright
“We’re planning this event as a radical strategy to challenge the perception of library
The library’s partnership with Soham Village College will continue beyond the Haunted House with Soham Village College students ‘taking over the library for the day’ throughout the autumn term. The first of these sessions will take place on 6 November.
