Expansion of Fordham CE Primary School

Notice is given in accordance with Section 19(1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 that Cambridgeshire County Council intends to make a prescribed alteration to Fordham CE Primary School, Isleham Road, Fordham, Ely, CB7 5NL from 1 September 2017.

The proposed expansion will add seven new classrooms and provide extensions to the staff room, main hall and activity studio, together with improvements to the circulation around the school. The additional school capacity is required to provide sufficient places to meet the future demand in the local area from a combination of a new housing development and in-catchment demand.

The current capacity of the school is 210 and the proposed capacity will be 420. The current number of pupils registered at the school is 242. The current admission number for the school is 30 and the proposed admission number will be 60.

Cambridgeshire County Council will fund the new accommodation through its capital programme.

The four week consultation period began on 3 March 2016, with a statutory notice published in the Ely Standard. During this time, members of the public were able to object to, or make comments on, the proposals. There were no objections during the four week consultation period and the proposal has since been approved by the Head of Service for 0-19 Place Planning and Organisation.
