Histon and Impington primary education consultation

Cambridgeshire County Council is working in collaboration with Cambridge Primary Education Trust (CPET) to permanently increase primary educational provision in Histon and Impington.

Histon and Impington are currently served by Histon and Impington Infant School and Histon and Impington Junior School which are run and managed as academies by CPET.

Cambridgeshire County Council's Children and Young People's Committee considered and agreed their approach at the meeting of 17 January 2017.

Histon and Impington Junior School will expand on its current site and extend its age range to serve children aged 4-11 to provide a total of 630 places (3 Forms of Entry). It is proposed for work to start on site in December 2017 with completion for the autumn term 2018. Council officers are still exploring options with South Cambridgeshire District Council to the relocation of Histon and Impington Infant School.

The Council remains committed to delivery of the required additional primary education provision in Histon and Impington, as outlined in the Children and Young People's Committee paper of 17 January 2017. The planning application for the junior school site has been submitted and is expected to be considered by the Council's Planning Committee in due course. This is phase one of a two phase project.

The Council recognises Buxhall Farm is a complex and sensitive site within the village. Detailed discussions with planners to understand the constraints and expectations for delivery of a school on this site are underway. There will be further public consultation on the design proposals in due course.
