New primary school for St. Neots Eastern Expansion

Applications have been received from potential sponsors to run and manage a new primary school, which Cambridgeshire County Council will be building on the St. Neots Eastern Expansion. This school will serve children and young people aged 2-11 living on the development and in the surrounding area. We are now in the process of selecting a sponsor.

On completion, the St. Neots Eastern Expansion will consist of over 5,200 dwellings. This includes 1,648 dwellings on Love’s Farm which is already completed. Three new primary schools are planned to meet the need for school places resulting from  the new housing on the Eastern Expansion.

Applications to sponsor and operate the school have been received from The Diamond Learning Partnership Trust, which operates seven schools including The Round House Primary Academy at Love’s Farm, and the St. Neots Learning Partnership Trust, which operates Longsands and Ernulf academies.

The new primary school will admit children up to a capacity of 630 pupils and will also have early years’ classes. The school will open initially in temporary facilities from September 2018, moving to permanent accommodation, which is planned for completion by 2019.

As part of this process the public are invited to attend a meeting on Wednesday 27 September 2017 at the Youth Hall, Bargroves Centre, Cromwell Road, St. Neots, starting at 6.30pm and finishing around 8pm. There will be an opportunity to meet the potential sponsors and to participate in a question and answer session. Everyone is welcome and there is no need to book.
