Cambridgeshire Archives Service holds a wealth of unique historic records and other resources relating to Cambridgeshire, the former counties of Huntingdonshire and the Isle of Ely and their communities.
Both Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire Archives are now closed to the public. Huntingdonshire Archives is scheduled to reopen fully on Monday 3 June 2019 in its existing location at Huntingdon Library. Cambridgeshire Archives will reopen in its new premises in Ely in the early autumn of 2019. For more details please go to Visit our archives
These records are free for the public to consult in our searchrooms at Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire Archives, assisted by our expert staff.
Starting your research
Please see our popular research topics webpage for an A-Z guide to the records we hold and advice on tracing family history, house history and other frequently requested subjects.
Other services we offer
Due to the large amount of work necessary to prepare our archives for the move to Ely, our staff can currently offer only a very limited range of services. We are not accepting most deposits of records, we are not delivering outreach or education events, we are not carrying out any research enquiries and we are not accepting new orders for digistisation of our records. Digistisation of external records may still be possible but it depends on staff resource availability.
