Reading Well Mood-boosting Books is a national promotion of uplifting novels, non-fiction and poetry.

We invite you to try a mood-boosting book as part of the Reading Well Books on Prescription scheme and to share your own favourite mood boosting reads with others.

Mood-boosting Books list

Readers and reading groups around the country have recommended 25 new Mood-boosting books  including Terry Pratchett’s Mort, Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet and A A Milne’s House at Pooh Corner.

The Reading Agency has worked with Macmillan Cancer Support to involve people who have been diagnosed with cancer. See the Macmillan Mood-boosting Books list.

Throughout October all libraries will be promoting and displaying selections of Mood-boosting Books, including titles from this year's list, and recommendations from staff and customers.

Call into your nearest library to see what's available or reserve yours via the online catalogue.

You can also find out about joining a Reading Group or you might like to start your own. Ask in your local library.
