Household Recycling Centre Van and Trailer Permit Scheme

Please note: this scheme is not yet operational and is expected to launch in autumn 2019.

From autumn 2019, Cambridgeshire residents using commercial-type vehicles and larger trailers will need to apply for a permit to dispose of household waste at all nine of Cambridgeshire's Household Recycling Centres (HRCs).

Vehicles and trailers above a certain size will be excluded from the site, as they are now, and restrictions apply to the type and amount of waste that will be accepted.

Check the following list to see whether your vehicle and / or trailer will require a permit.

  • Cars - including estates, people carriers and 4x4s without pick-ups
  • Campervans and minibuses - with rear seats and fittings (used for passenger transport), and based on a vehicle no larger than a standard Transit van

Permit information

Permits will be free of charge and issued to Cambridgeshire residents only. A permit will allow a maximum of 12 visits to Household Recycling Centres per year using vehicles requiring a permit (a vehicle requiring a permit towing a trailer of any size will count as two visits if both contain waste).

It is not currently possible to request a permit, but if you wish to be notified when they become available, please email the Cambridgeshire County Council Waste Management Team at [email protected]. The permit scheme is expected to launch in autumn 2019. Please check this page for updates.
