Welcome to the Carers Webpages - on the following pages you can find information about local support, guidelines, your rights as a carer, news and events relating to carers.
Carers look after family, partners or friends in need of help because they are ill, frail or have a disability. The care they provide is unpaid.
(Carers UK)
A parent Carer is a parent of a disabled child. Parents will often see themselves as parents rather than Carers, but their child will have additional care needs and may be entitled to additional services.
(Department of Health)
Young Carers are Carers who are under the age of 18 years. The person receiving care is often a parent but can be a brother or sister, grandparent or other relative who needs support.
(Department of Health)
A Young Carer is anyone under the age of 18 years whose life is in some way restricted because of the need to take responsibility for the care of someone who is ill, has a disability, is experiencing mental distress, or is affected by substance misuse.
