Welcome to Cambridgeshire Archaeology

Cambridgeshire's historic environment bears evidence of 500,000 years of human activity - ancient sites, monuments and landscapes, historic towns, villages and buildings, ancient features and finds.

Archaeology is the discovery, study and understanding of this evidence.

Cambridgeshire Archaeology works in partnership with others to protect and enhance Cambridgeshire's historic environment, to promote

  • sustainable growth,
  • access,
  • active citizenship,
  • lifelong learning, and
  • a sense of place for all Cambridgeshire communities.

Cambridgeshire Archaeology provides

  • advice and information on the archaeology and historic environment of Cambridgeshire,
  • outreach and learning opportunities for schools and communities in Cambridgeshire.
Read about the work of Cambridgeshire Archaeology during 2008/9 in the latest annual report, available for download from our homepage or at any of our events.
