Review of SEND Home to School Transport Arrangements 2026/2027

We are currently carrying out a planned review of some of our SEND home-to-school transport routes for September 2026. Local Authorities are required to review transport contracts regularly so that services remain safe, reliable, and good value for public money.

As part of this process, a number of routes will be re‑tendered. This may mean that some students experience changes to their usual transport provider or vehicle. We understand that transport is an important part of your child’s daily routine, and we are committed to keeping any disruption to a minimum.

If your child is likely to be affected, you will have received a letter which explains that your child’s route is likely to change from September.

In the meantime, you may find it helpful to read our Summary of SEND Transport Review 2026/27 which explains this in more detail and includes frequently asked questions.

We are currently consulting on our Post 16 travel arrangements for September 2026. Visit  Home to school transport policy documents for the consultation details.

You are responsible for ensuring the necessary transport arrangements are made so that your children can attend school.

If your child is assessed as eligible for transport assistance, they may receive transport organised by Cambridgeshire County Council or a Personal Transport Budget (PTB). You can find out more information about eligibility and alternative travel options below.

Child in care applications

If your child is, or has been, a child in care with Cambridgeshire or another local authority, please contact your social worker about transport.

This includes legal arrangements such as a Special Guardianship Order or if your child is or has been a Looked After Child.

Your social worker will be able to advise on the appropriate process.

Please do not complete this form unless you have been specifically directed to do so.
