Child In care applications

If your child is, or has been, a child in care with Cambridgeshire or another local authority, please contact your social worker about transport.

This includes legal arrangements such as a Special Guardianship Order or if your child is or has been a Looked After Child.

Your social worker will be able to advise on the appropriate process.

Please do not complete this form unless you have been specifically directed to do so.

Important information about SEND home to school transport

If you have submitted a SEND home to school transport application, please note the following timescales:

  • We aim to assess completed applications within 10 working days. This is subject to confirmation of the named school placement by the Statutory Assessment Team.
  • Once an application has been approved, arranging transport can take up to 15 working days.
  • Overall, from receipt of a completed application to transport being in place, the process can take up to one calendar month.

What we mean by a “completed application”

An application is considered complete once the Passenger Transport Team has received all the information needed to proceed. This includes:

  • a fully completed application form, and
  • confirmation of the named placement from the Statutory Assessment Team.

We will contact you as soon as transport arrangements have been confirmed and a start date is known.

 For current transport arrangements

If your enquiry relates to existing transport arrangements, please contact the Delivery Team directly at:
Education.TransportTeam@cambridgeshire.gov.uk

You are responsible for ensuring the necessary transport arrangements are made so that your children can attend school.

If your child is assessed as eligible for transport assistance, they may receive transport organised by Cambridgeshire County Council or a Personal Transport Budget (PTB). You can find out more information about eligibility and alternative travel options below.
