Visit the former Lord Protector's family home, the only residence still in existence other than Hampton Court. Following a recent refurbishment our House now boasts a completely re-vamped Civil War Exhibition with impressive interactive displays and interpretations. There is also a new timeline and family tree to provide more engaging content about this complex man who killed a King, but refused the crown. Visitors have the opportunity to try on costumes and try out the games of the time as well as truly experience what life was like on the battle fields during the English Civil War in our new mini encampment.

At the end of the tour, we ask you to decide whether you feel Cromwell was a Hero or a Villain with a new voting system which we believe everyone will be keen to try out!

Audio handsets bring the story of this impressive House vividly to life. Or try our new augmented reality trail - The Cromwell Quest, perfect for families. Search the rooms of this historic building looking for seven lost coins from the English Civil War. You will need to find them all and make the link to solve the riddle of where the rest of the treasure is located. Great family fun for adults and children. Guided tours and group visits welcome, for more details please see here:  https://olivercromwell.verveapps.com/index.php

The House also doubles as the Tourist Information Centre and has a delightful Gift Shop full of gift ideas as well as souvenirs relating to Cromwell and the area. So check out our website www.visitely.org.uk and let us help plan your visit or call 01353 662062 for further information.

For a meeting room with a difference, why not consider booking the Tithe Office at Oliver Cromwell’s House. This atmospheric, 17th Century, oak panelled room, is perfect for a variety of meetings, away days, corporate or social functions. We also hire the whole house for filming purposes as well as Paranormal Investigations or team building exercises. All our refreshments have a 17th Century influence so whether it is a biscuit with your coffee, an afternoon tea or a full blown meal you can be assured of a unique tasting experience. Request a copy of our sample menus for more details. In Cromwell's time, this is the very room where he would have sat to oversee the locals bringing corn and produce in order the pay their ‘tithes’ or taxes. In other words it was the Tax Office! Today, the Tithe Office has been restored to retain its character and charm and makes for an excellent function room venue. We are happy to arrange tours of Oliver Cromwell's House as part of your package or perhaps a City guided walk. Please enquire and we will endeavour to develop the best package for you. For further information, including facilities and bespoke requirements, please contact us at info@visitely.org.uk or download our Booking Form here: https://www.olivercromwellshouse.co.uk/index.php?page=function_room#2056
