Cambridgeshire County Council aims to provide fair value for money in adult social care by ensuring costs align with 'best value' options.

We must use public money in a way that is fair for all the people in Cambridgeshire who have adult social care needs.

To do this:

  • We will make decisions on a case-by-case basis and weigh up the costs of different potential care and support plans to ensure best value is achieved.
  • We will take into account your individual needs, preferences, and outcomes as required by the Care Act 2014 but are not obliged to fund care beyond what is deemed to be reasonable and cost-effective.
  • We will identify the best value care and support plan that can be delivered to meet your eligible needs. This could include where a care home can meet your needs at a lower cost than care in your own home.
  • If you want a care and support plan that is more money than the most affordable plan, we will talk to you about how this could happen (including 3rd party top ups).
  • We will ensure decisions are person-centred, but also economically justified.

  • Care and Support Statutory Guidance – Annex A (Choice of Accommodation).
