Cambridgeshire County Council is celebrating success after winning at the prestigious 2025 Local Government Chronicle (LGC) Awards.
The award winners were announced at a ceremony last night (Wednesday 11 June), where local authorities from across the UK came together to celebrate excellence in public service and community leadership. The awards recognise excellence in innovation, dedication, and councils working to improve outcomes for their communities.
The county council won the award in the Community Involvement category having highlighted the work of both the Fenland Youth Work Network and Fenland Youth Tribe and the projects they have delivered through their collaborative and engaging approach.
Fenland Youth Work Network and Fenland Youth Tribe received national recognition for their vital work supporting young people aged 11-18, who are at risk of serious violence, exploitation and involvement in county lines. The submission showcased the two projects aimed at supporting young people who are at risk, by providing a safe, nurturing environment where young people can build resilience, form positive relationships, and develop the skills needed to make informed life choices.
Councillor Lucy Nethsingha, Leader of Cambridgeshire County Council said: “To have won this award is a powerful endorsement of the innovation and commitment shown by our staff and partners, and it reflects the drive across the Council to deliver a greener, fairer and more caring Cambridgeshire.
“I’m extremely proud that Cambridgeshire County Council has been recognised for its outstanding work in this important area, and I’d like to say a huge ‘well done’ to everyone involved.”
Dr Stephen Moir, Chief Executive of the County Council added: “I am delighted that the amazing work of these Cambridgeshire County Council teams has been recognised at the prestigious LGC Awards. This win reflects the passion and dedication of our people and serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of working closely with communities to make a real difference.”
Cllr Susan Wallwork, chairman of Fenland Community Safety Partnership, said: “The Community Safety Partnership is proud to support the incredible work of Fenland Youth Work Network and Fenland Youth Tribe.
“This success is down to working in collaboration to secure funding and, most specifically, the incredible passion, dedication and innovation of all involved.
“This approach works because of joint working between Fenland District Council, Cambridgeshire Police, Cambridgeshire County Council and the amazing voluntary sector youth work partners.”
