Councillor Lucy Nethsingha, Leader of Cambridgeshire County Council said:
“We welcome the relaxation and the greater flexibility for shorter apprenticeships in targeted sectors to support growth and skills.
“We know that the pandemic has worsened inequalities in not just health but also wealth and we are focussed on delivering a fairer Cambridgeshire.
“We also know how many positive examples there have been through the existing Apprenticeship levy, so we would want to build on this success, including the creation of more entry routes to enable young people to get into work.
“We would welcome businesses and organisations, such as ourselves, being involved in the future development of this scheme, to ensure that any changes will enhance, rather than impact, those existing apprentices we have in social work.”
