18 October 2024

Cambridge Central Library is teaming up with local eco-friendly organisations to host an exciting, free environmental event tomorrow, 11am-1pm, Saturday, 19 October.

Join passionate speakers and friendly stallholders in the first-floor foyer and the children’s library. Take part in eco-friendly activities and get equipped with the know-how to make positive changes where you live. Drop in at any time and stay for as long as you want – it’s all free.

Including activities for all ages you’ll discover what’s happening locally to protect our planet, and how you can join in. Find out about small steps we can all take from recycling to making homes energy efficient, climate change gardening, supporting nature and more.

  • How Bad are Bananas? – a game to help you understand the carbon footprint of common activities

Chair of Cambridgeshire County Council’s Environment and Green Investment Committee, Councillor Lorna Dupre said: “The Cambridge Central Library Eco Fair is a fantastic opportunity for people to find out how small changes can add up to a big difference in our communities.

“We all need to do our bit to enable us to reach Net Zero carbon emissions as a county by 2045, so I’d encourage everyone to visit the Eco Fair tomorrow where there will be some great ideas on options for more sustainable living.”

Chair of Cambridgeshire County Council’s Communities, Social Mobility and Inclusion Committee, Councillor Tom Sanderson said: “This Eco Fair is a great opportunity to explore practical ways to live more sustainably. Events like this play an important role in raising awareness about local environmental issues, with libraries at the heart of local communities.
