‘Get Activated’ this summer with free and low-cost family events across Cambridgeshire

The council’s Get Activated summer activity campaign is back – promoting hundreds of free or low-cost activities for children, young people, and families.

At locations across Cambridgeshire, the County Council and our partners are running activities and events that aim to keep children and families busy, entertained and active during the summer holidays.

From sports, arts and crafts, and outdoor adventures, to wellbeing sessions and community events – there’s something for everyone.

Highlights this year will include:

  • Explorers aged zero to five can use the principles of ‘forest school’ for a morning of discovery and adventure, alongside free outdoor garden family yoga sessions at Peckover House in Wisbech.
  • The Hive in Ely is hosting free activities for young people aged five to eighteen, including a climbing wall, bicycle repairs and appearances from the fire service and local sports clubs.
  • At Arbury Court Library in Cambridge, young adventurers can take part in creative map-making sessions, as part of Cambridgeshire Libraries much-loved Summer Reading Challenge.
  • Grafham Water Centre are hosting a school holiday activity club for £50 per day. Where children can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities such as sailing, canoeing, archery, climbing and high ropes.
  • And much, much more!

Get Activated promotes healthy lifestyles by providing affordable outdoor family activities that encourage active travel, physical activity, and wellbeing in local settings. It’s part of the County Council’s ambitions to reduce health and income inequalities and enable Cambridgeshire’s children and young people to thrive, helping the council to achieve our vision to create a greener, fairer and more caring Cambridgeshire.

Councillor Edna Murphy, chair of the Children and Young People’s Committee said: “It’s great to see the Get Activated campaign back again to provide Cambridgeshire families with another fun-filled summer of accessible and engaging events.”
