Couples looking for an impressive, yet affordable wedding venue are now able to book their ceremony with Cambridgeshire County Council, at the prestigious Huntingdon Town Hall.
The iconic, Grade II Listed, Georgian building will replace the registry office room at Lawrence Court on 1 April.
Ceremony prices start from £450 offering couples a beautiful and accessible setting for their marriage or civil partnership.
Huntingdon Town Hall has long been a popular local landmark and offers an elegant ceremony space, improved facilities, and a central location close to amenities and transport links.
Couples will be able to choose either the Council Chambers or The Assembly Room for their ceremony. Services, which previously took place every 45 minutes, will now be scheduled hourly, creating a calmer, more personal experience for couples as they say their vows.
Earlier ceremonies at 10am and 11am will offer a simple, lower-cost option, while later ceremonies will provide couples with the opportunity to choose an enhanced experience, allowing additional time for personal touches and creating lasting memories with family and friends.
Councillor Alison Whelan, Chair of the Communities, Social Mobility and Inclusion Committee, said: “It really is a huge privilege for our registrars to be involved in such memorable and joyous occasions for families across Cambridgeshire.
“However, at a time when the cost of living is so high, a wedding or civil partnership is something I’m sure many people cannot justify spending a huge sum of money on.
“I really hope that offering Huntingdon Town Hall, such a grand and iconic building, at a more affordable price, will allow many people to experience the magical day they always dreamt off, without blowing the budget.”
Cambridgeshire County Council Registration Service is hosting an open day at Huntingdon Town Hall on Valentines Day (Saturday, 14 February) from 11am until 2pm, giving couples the opportunity to view the venue and meet the team.
