Healthy, fair and sustainable – Cambridgeshire County Council’s bold new vision for the county launches today (Wednesday, 1 April), setting out a clear commitment to delivering real outcomes that enhance daily life for people across our county.
Approved by Full Council in February, this new direction is informed by resident feedback gathered through the council’s annual Quality of Life survey.
This vision guides everything the Council does from today until 2028/2029: the decisions it makes, the services it delivers, and the partnerships it works with. It reflects our commitment to having a positive impact on everyone who lives, works and travels in Cambridgeshire, ensuring that the outcomes we deliver genuinely improve people’s lives and strengthen our communities. It will help ensure Cambridgeshire is well prepared for the changes and challenges to come including Local Government Reorganisation.
The vision is supported by the Strategic Framework and its three key ambitions, which together provide a clear, consistent direction for the years ahead.

A progressive vision guided by what matters to residents
The Quality of Life Survey, first launched in 2023, has provided the council with annual insight into the experiences of people and communities across Cambridgeshire.
Built on what residents have told us matters most to them, the council’s progressive new vision sets out three overarching and interconnected ambitions that will guide our priorities:
- Support a green and sustainable county
- Enable full, healthy lives for all
- Ensure fairness and opportunity wherever we can
Coming into effect today, the vision and ambitions are highlighted in a short video by Cllr Lucy Nethsingha, Leader of Cambridgeshire County Council, who said: “The new vision sets out a clear and ambitious direction for Cambridgeshire and for the County Council. It reflects what our residents have told us they value most, and gives us a strong, shared vision which will guide every aspect of the Council’s work for the coming years and the legacy we will leave, following local government reorganisation.
“By focusing on sustainability, health and fairness, we are committing to long-term priorities that will help our communities to thrive. The new framework will help us shape our decisions, the services we deliver, and the outcomes we work towards.”
