Maintenance work on the A1307 – update

22 August 2025

Maintenance work continues on the A1307 with final barrier repairs between Huntingdon and Godmanchester.

Last month (July), the drainage works at Fenstanton, which included replacing the fencing, were completed and the lane closure and the 40mph speed restriction between Fen Drayton and Godmanchester were removed.

The final phase of work involves replacing the safety barriers between Huntingdon and Godmanchester. Our contractors discovered asbestos material in the bridge surface, and this was removed by a specialist company before other works could resume. They also found the waterproofing layers, which protect the bridge from water damage, need replacing at the River Ouse viaduct and bridge, so this additional work will be carried out as well.

The temporary 40mph speed limits that remain in place for safety reasons will be removed in stages as each phase of work is completed. The temporary speed limit from Hemingford Grey bridge to the start of Cow Lane Interchange will be removed in early September and the final limits from Cow Lane Interchange to Pathfinder Link Road will be removed at the end of October. At this point, all works will be complete, all temporary speed limits removed with the road fully returned to two-lanes.

We apologise for the ongoing inconvenience caused by these maintenance works. Further updates will be provided – please follow @Cambs_Traffic.
