Cambridgeshire County Council’s Preparing for Adulthood team have successfully held their second annual SEND Festival for young people, which took place on Friday 11 July.
The annual festival is an event for young people aged 14-25 years with special educational needs and disabilities, parent carers, and school groups.
A range of interactive and fun activities were on offer, as well as support and advice to encourage attendees to begin to think about their future, highlighting the council’s ambition of helping children and young people to have opportunities to thrive.
The festival offered a range of services, including discussions with employers about career opportunities in a variety of industries, information and guidance from job coaches, career advisers, and further education colleges.
There was also a focus on social wellbeing, with friendship and community groups attending, helping to support young people with friendships, mental health, wellbeing.
A variety of fun social activities including bowling, a silent disco, ping pong, and an indoor picnic also made it an enjoyable and engaging experience for all.
Councillor Jonny Edge, Vice Chair of the Children and Young People’s Committee said: “The success of our second annual SEND Festival is a testament to the vibrant and supportive community we have here in Cambridgeshire.”
