Community Flood Action Groups (CFAGs) are being encouraged to apply for a new watercourse maintenance grant, to help protect vulnerable properties from flooding.
The watercourse maintenance grant aims to provide funding to communities in Cambridgeshire where riparian owners cannot be identified (either by communities or the County Council) or where riparian owners are unable to undertake riparian maintenance themselves.
Whilst applications from CFAGs are preferred, in order not to exclude smaller, more rural, and more isolated communities or residents, certain applications from individuals or Parish Councils will be given special consideration.
Applications for funding will be assessed against several criteria, these include:
- addressing recognised flooding issues
- engaging with the local community
- ecological benefits, amongst others
Details of these criteria, and their weighting in relation to the overall score can be found in the Project Evaluation Scorecard in the application pack section.
The application pack section also includes a draft copy of the Draft Riparian Funding Agreement. Applicants should read this document carefully so that they understand the likely terms of the agreement before applying for funding.
Applications must come with a letter of support from your local county councillor.
Visit the CMIS website to find out who your local county councillor is and how to contact them
Applications will be reviewed every two months, starting at the beginning of December 2021.
