Local Elections for Cambridgeshire County Council will take place on 1 May 2025

06 February 2025

Following extensive media coverage relating to the Government’s decision to postpone local elections for a number of councils, voters in Cambridgeshire are being reminded that this is not the case for the elections to Cambridgeshire County Council.

Dr Stephen Moir, the County Returning Officer and Chief Executive of Cambridgeshire County Council, said:

“Local elections for all 61 County Councillors across our 59 electoral divisions will be taking place on Thursday, 1 May 2025.

Cambridgeshire County Council is not part of the Government’s Devolution Priority Programme and it is important that registered voters across Fenland, Huntingdonshire, East Cambridgeshire, Cambridge City and South Cambridgeshire are able to exercise their democratic rights this year.

I would encourage everyone who is registered to vote to take part in the forthcoming County Council Elections, further details about which will be published in the coming weeks.”

The last full council elections to Cambridgeshire County Council occurred in May 2021 and will again coincide this year with the election of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority Mayor.

Information about voter eligibility and how to register to vote can be found on the County Council’s website at: Voting in an election | Cambridgeshire County Council
