Are you missing out on Pension Credit?

In Cambridgeshire, up to one in three people who are eligible for Pension Credit are not claiming it. The average household could get around £186 per month.

Pension Credit is extra money to help with living costs if you're over State Pension age and on a low income.

Some other benefits are dependent on receiving Pension Credit, such as:

  • the Winter Fuel Payment
  • a free TV licence if you're aged 75 or over
  • help with NHS dental treatment, glasses and hospital transport costs
  • other benefits depending on your circumstances.

Pension Credit and the Winter Fuel payment

You'll get a Winter Fuel Payment this year if you're entitled to Pension Credit at any point between 16 and 22 September 2024.

If you are eligible for Pension Credit but are not receiving it yet, you can make a backdated claim so that you still receive the Winter Fuel payment. The last date you can do this will be 21 December.
