The Agricultural Water Resilience Grant Scheme is now open
A new £1.32 million grant scheme is now open to help farms and growers across Cambridgeshire make better use of water and reduce pressure on local supplies.
The Water Resilience Grant Scheme is funded by the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government (MHCLG), with Cambridgeshire County Council as the lead authority. The scheme is being delivered by Water Resources East (WRE) and it will support farmers and growers to improve how they store, manage and use water on their land.
What the grant can support
Funding is available for practical improvements, including:
- rainwater harvesting
- on‑farm water storage
- more efficient irrigation systems
These measures can help farms and growers become more resilient during dry periods, while protecting water resources for local communities, businesses and the environment.

Cambridgeshire is one of the driest parts of the UK, and water supplies are under increasing pressure. Water shortages not only affect agriculture but also the wider economy, local communities and the natural environment.
