Temporary closure of Wisbech Adventure Playground

Wisbech Adventure Playground (The Spinney), Waterlees Road, Wisbech is currently closed.

On Monday 2 June 2025, the playground temporarily closed for around six months to undergo major transformation. The changes are possible thanks to funding from the Youth Investment Fund.

We have secured funding from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). This support will help us build a new youth centre to replace the two existing barges.

Wisbech is one of several sites across the country chosen to get this funding. The goal is to improve youth services and spaces.

Why are we making these changes?

The improved centre will give children and young people a safe, friendly place to join activities, meet others and get help from trained staff. Playworkers and youth workers will be there to support local families and the wider community.

What to expect

The playground will temporarily close to the public for around six months while work takes place. During this time, we’re working with our team and community partners to plan alternative events and play opportunities to keep children engaged throughout the summer. More details on these will be shared soon.

We’ll keep you updated as work progresses and let you know when we’re ready to open the new facility. This is a big step forward for youth services in Wisbech, and we can’t wait to welcome families back to a revitalised space that puts play, support, and community at its heart.
