Legal and Governance includes the following services

This team develops and maintains the council's constitution, and ensure it is followed at all times. Democratic Services provide advice and support to councillors on all aspects of their work.

The internal audit team is made up of finance, control and risk specialists. They provide the organisation with objective assurance on the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes in order to help improve the council’s operations.

The Information Governance team lead on the council's compliance with data protection legislation, information sharing, information security, records management, and processing requests under the Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulations.

Communities, Libraries and Skills

This service group comprises of our Libraries and Archive Services, Cultural Services, Cambridgeshire Skills, the Communities Service, administration of the Household Support Fund, Changing Futures, Housing First and our Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence teams.

Emergency Planning

The Emergency Planning Team is responsible for ensuring the council is prepared to respond to major emergencies and incidents. This includes: 

  • working with partners to ensure that we have plans in place should an emergency occur
  • working with colleagues to ensure we have robust business continuity arrangements

Policy, Insight and Change

This group of services comprises of our corporate policy team, programme management office and a service design team. Working in partnership with colleagues they support the council to develop and improve our service delivery.

The Business Intelligence Service provides analysis to help our services and partners make decisions based on the best possible evidence. It consists of two teams: the Business Intelligence Team, and the Research Team. The teams support both internal services, such as Adult Social Care, children’s services, commissioning, and education; and external partners such as Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority, District and City Councils locally, and the Greater Cambridge Partnership.

Human Resources

HR Services include the Health & Safety, HR Advisory, Workforce Policy and Strategy, Learning and Development and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion teams. Providing professional and expert advice to managers alongside offering learning, support and information to employees. This enables all of us to best serve the communities and citizens of Cambridgeshire.

Communications

The Communications Team incorporates three main functions:

  • external media management, campaigns and partnership working
  • internal communications, staff engagement and branding
  • management of the corporate website, content and future development
