Financial advice around paying for care

Personal care can be expensive. Most people pay their own care costs. If you may need to pay for care, we strongly recommend that you get advice from an independent financial adviser before making any decisions.

Breathing Space (debt respite scheme)

Breathing Space is a free, Government scheme for people who are struggling with debt. It aims to relieve some of the pressure of dealing with creditors. You can focus on getting advice and setting up your debt solution without worrying about being chased for payment or building up extra charges.

If you pass the eligibility checks, your creditors won't be able to add interest or fees to your debts, or take enforcement action, for 60 days. You'll still need to keep making your regular payments if you can afford to.

A debt advisor can give you more information.
