What is a crisis payment?
A crisis payment is short-term help for people on a low income who are facing a sudden financial emergency. It is designed to help you deal with an immediate problem and prevent things from getting worse.
A crisis payment helps with an immediate emergency, but it can also be a first step towards longer-term support. Where it would be helpful, we may offer to connect you with local services. They can help stabilise your situation and reduce the risk of further crises. This may include advice on benefits, debt, budgeting, housing or employment. These services are optional, confidential, and focused on helping you build financial resilience for the future.
