Mental health and wellbeing for adults and older people

Mental health and wellbeing has a big impact on our quality of life but there is support available.

In Cambridgeshire, mental health support is not part of adult social care. If you are being supported with your mental health, please contact the team which is supporting you for further help or advice.

If you or someone you know, is thinking of hurting themselves, has made threats to hurt you or someone else, and is feeling distress that seems overwhelming or suicide seems the only option: there are many organisations that can help with these feelings.

Contact the NHS First Response Service for mental health support for yourself, or on behalf of someone else. Dial 111 and select option 2. The phone line is available 24 hours a day.

For more general information on support around mental health in Cambridgeshire, go to the Keep Your Head website .

If you look after another person it is important to look after your own mental health as well as theirs. See our information on support for carers.

Mental Health Crisis Breathing Space

If you are receiving mental health crisis treatment, Breathing Space can help take the pressure off of debts and repayments. An Approved Mental Health Practitioner can provide evidence of debts to a debt advice provider.

The debt advice provider will try to establish (as far as possible) which debts you have, and whether they are eligible for the scheme, before including them in a Mental Health Crisis Breathing Space (MHCBS).

To find out more ask your mental health practitioner.
