During the summer of 2026, residents living in the areas surrounding Saxon Pit were invited to take part in a community survey about their everyday experiences of living locally. A smaller number also took part in in-depth interviews.
This work formed the basis of a Cumulative Health Impact Assessment (CHIA), which brings together information about local conditions and residents' experiences to help understand how different aspects of the local environment may affect health and wellbeing over time.
It follows the recommendation made in the Public Health risk assessment, which highlighted the importance of gathering residents' views and experiences alongside other sources of evidence.
The CHIA was undertaken by Volterra Partners LLP and ECF, with support from Public Health. Three residents provided invaluable input through our advisory group.

The report is due for publication in early October 2026.
Cumulative Health Impact Assessment information sessions
Online information sessions are being held on Wednesday 7 October where you can hear about the findings of the Cumulative Health Impact Assessment (CHIA) for Saxon Pit and the surrounding area.
Two online information sessions will be held via Microsoft Teams on:
- Wednesday 7 October at 10am
- Wednesday 7 October at 6pm
Each information session will last approximately one hour. Both sessions will cover the same information, so you will only need to attend one.
During the session there will be an overview of the CHIA and how it was carried out, followed by a summary of the key findings. This will include what was heard through the resident survey and in-depth interviews.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions using the online Q&A function. Questions will be responded to during the session where possible. Any questions that cannot be answered live will be followed up after the event and questions and answers from the sessions will also be collated and published online.
