Public Health Oversight Group
A Public Health Oversight Group has been established to oversee progress against the recommendations and maintain collaboration between residents, regulators, operators and local authorities. It is chaired by Councillor Graham Wilson who is the lead councillor for health at Cambridgeshire County Council.

Cumulative Health Impact Assessment
A Cumulative Health Impact Assessment (CHIA) has been undertaken, with the report due for publication in early October.
Air quality monitoring
The Environment Agency has placed an air quality monitoring unit in the vicinity of Saxon Pit. This will be in place until November.
Additional Fenland District Council managed equipment will continue to provide data on air quality in Whittlesey longer term.
Aagreements have been made with businesses that operate on the Saxon Pit site to routinely share air quality monitoring data from their own monitors with the Public Health Oversight Group. Much of this data is already reviewed under Environment Agency permit requirements.
Taken together, the information from all these monitors will provide additional evidence to indicate if any further action on air quality is advised.
Water quality monitoring
While there is no evidence of public health risk from water in King’s Dyke because it is not drinking water, as a precautionary approach, additional monitoring has been undertaken.
The Environment Agency undertook additional water quality testing in King’s Dyke for ten weeks during summer 2026. This showed no unexpected concerns with water quality.
Routine water quality monitoring continues by the Environment Agency.
Environment Agency’s evidence hub for monitoring information
The Environment Agency has created a new Engagement HQ (EHQ) page to host information on operations within Saxon Pit. It will share ideas and raise questions with other regulating bodies to develop further understanding of issues and concerns from the residents.
It will work on frequently asked questions (FAQs) and answer them in a timely manner and add any relevant documents and photographs associated with these operations.
