The Project Delivery team are key to delivering our highway programmes and projects. We work with our partners across:
- Cambridgeshire County Council
- Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA)
- Greater Cambridgeshire Partnership (GCP)
- District and Parish Councils.
We are proud to provide expert skills across our programmes of work. These include project, contract, commercial, risk and quality management. We keep health, safety and wellbeing at the forefront of everything we do.
Our team sits between the Transport Planning team, who set our future strategies and pipeline of projects and our Maintenance team, who take on the projects we deliver upon completion to operate and maintain.
Our Services
We provide a wide range of services to drive the delivery of our projects. We also maintain key service functions across the Highways and Transport directorate. We have 5 core service area within Project Delivery.
In each service area we promote and champion proactive change and seek to innovate the way we deliver our projects. We are creating digital by default processes, reducing our carbon impact, and developing ways we can positively impact our communities.
We have core services that support the wider Highways team. This model means we are able to share learning and promote an efficient way of working.
The majority of projects are born in our Transport Planning team. They are a product of a strategy, which is driving a positive change for our communities.
When it's the right time, Project Delivery take on the project. We ensure the funded scope is delivered. Once the project is complete, the assets are handed over to Highway Maintenance.
The Programme Management Office, Contracts & Commissioning and Finance & Business Support teams work across the Highway service.
Our Teams
Design and Delivery
Our design and delivery team manage highway works programmes from the idea to completion. In most cases this includes consultation, design, procurement, and delivery on site. We work to achieve the Council’s priorities by promoting active travel during the programme, whilst also improving safety and positive interventions for our communities. We are working to enable seamless local connectivity. This supports sustainable growth for all.
Complex Infrastructure
The complex infrastructure team manage large projects. From concept stage, delivering strategic business cases through to design and construction phases.
Contracts and Commissioning
Our contracts and commissioning team manage many significant contracts. This includes our term service contract for design and construction works, including maintenance across Cambridgeshire. We also have professional services contracts and other contracts managing specific assets. The team provide contract and commercial expertise. They pride themselves in creating collaborative contract relationships to deliver with our partners.
Programme Management Office
The programme management office provides a structure and digital by default framework to make best use of resources. The team support the wider team through effective programming and cost management. They promote project management best practice and consistency in our projects. The team are key to ensuring we have a professional and accurate delivery record throughout everything we do.
Finance and Business Support
This team provide finance, business, information and engagement support to Highway and Transport. This includes support with administration, ordering, budgets and is an integral part of the Project Delivery team. They add great value to our processes and the way we work.
