Delivering Transport Strategy Aims Programme

What is the Delivering Transport Strategy Aims (DTSA) programme?

The Delivering Transport Strategy Aims (DTSA) programme supports the delivery of small to medium sized schemes. DTSA funding is allocated to schemes drawn from various county-wide transport strategies, up to the value of £500,000. These strategies include the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) and Transport Proposals Database (TPD).

Eligible schemes vary in size and complexity. Schemes are usually deliverable within two years and may include:

  • Road safety improvements
  • Pedestrianisation
  • Improvements to cycling and walking routes
  • Pedestrian crossings
  • Bridges
  • Links to schools and to employment areas

What are the aims?

The schemes are strategy driven. They offer the opportunity to deliver highway improvements that are identified during consultation with local communities.

We aim to improve access to amenities for all. Improving infrastructure to encourage active travel helps deliver health benefits. Our schemes seek to help create a good quality of life for all.

Local Member Project / Street Parish / Town Summary / Update
Cllr Elisa Meschini Apthorpe Way King's Hedges Provision of new disabled bay and double yellow lining.
Cllr Rory Clark Oxford Road, Windsor Road junction Castle Removal of barrier and junction upgrade. The passageway off the junction has high pedestrian, cyclist and vehicle flows at school / commuter times and the barrier at the Windsor Road end can cause long pedestrian and cyclist waiting times. We propose to remove the existing barrier and provide additional space for those travelling actively.
Cllr Alex Beckett Victoria Avenue, Maids Causeway junction Market A new parallel crossing will provide safer, easier access to Midsummer Common and across Maids Causeway. A new single lane approach to the roundabout on Maids Causeway will allow for shorter crossing points and footways will be widened out to create new sections of shared use path. The cattle grids will be widened, re-located slightly, separated for pedestrians and cyclists and the 'pram' arms replaced by a swing gate.
