Capital maintenance programme

We are making the biggest investment in highways maintenance for over a decade.

A lot of this work is through the capital maintenance programme, which delivers large-scale, high-value planned improvements to the public highway across Cambridgeshire.

On this collection of pages, you can find out more about the planned maintenance work we’re doing in your area. Find out about planned improvements to roads, drains, pavements, bridges and traffic signals.

Over the next two years, we are putting an additional £43 million into highways. This is the biggest multi-year investment for over a decade. 73% of residents have told us they are dissatisfied with the deterioration in the state of many of Cambridgeshire’s roads and footpaths. We’ve listened and we’re making record investment.

This means we're now able to start tackling the repair backlog and begin getting our network into better shape, delivering safer and more sustainable journeys for everyone in Cambridgeshire.

We know that even record levels of investment won’t fix all the problems. But we are determined to tackle the challenge and give our residents the safe, smooth roads, pathways and cycleways they deserve.
