South Cambridgeshire resident parking permits

We accept either:

• Your full UK driving licence showing the address of the property you are applying for
• A signed and dated tenancy agreement, valid for at least six months, showing your name and the address of the property you are applying for

If you are unable to provide a full UK driving licence or tenancy agreement showing the applied for address, please apply for a Temporary Resident Permit in the MiPermit web portal.

We will accept the following documents dated within the last three months:

• A utility bill
• A bank statement
• A deed of conveyance

These documents must show your name and the address of the property you are applying for.

You then have three months to supply us with the correct documentation. If this is not received, we will cancel your permit and enforcement rules will apply.

The vehicle's insurance certificate showing you as the policyholder or main insured driver.

You also need to provide a letter from your insurance company acknowledging they are aware that the vehicle is parked within the relevant parking scheme.

We will accept the schedule of motor insurance showing the address where you keep the vehicle overnight and the policyholder / main insured driver.

If it is a company car with fleet insurance, we will accept a recently dated letter from the company on headed paper stating you are the main user of the vehicle and that states the address where the vehicle is kept overnight.

Resident parking areas

• Within all schemes, parking bays are marked and signs located next to those bays
• Only vehicles with a valid resident parking permit can park in these areas during the scheme’s operational hours.
• A permit doesn't reserve or guarantee the availability of a parking space.
• The permits are specific to the scheme area you apply for

Your scheme area may include:

• Resident parking bays - If you are a resident, you may park for as long as you want if the vehicle has a valid resident parking permit.
• Shared / joint use bays - these provide short-stay, non-permit parking for people using local facilities. The waiting limit doesn't apply to permit holders.
• Pay and display bays - these provide short-stay, non-permit parking for people using local facilities. You need to purchase and display a valid ticket or use the cashless parking option. Follow on-site instructions.

Existing paper parking permits must be clearly displayed in the windscreen of the vehicle so that the Civil Enforcement Officer can read all the details. Failure to display a paper permit may result in a Penalty Charge Notice being issued.

Not all addresses within a scheme are eligible for parking permits. Residents of new developments or properties redeveloped or converted since the introduction date of the Resident Parking Scheme for their area are generally not eligible for resident parking permits.

However, these properties may be eligible for visitor parking permits. In these circumstances, please contact the Parking Permits Team for advice.

As a resident parking permit is vehicle specific, you will need to amend the vehicle details on your parking permit. To change the vehicle details on your permit please log on to your MiPermit account and select Vehicle Change Permit. Alternatively, you may contact MiPermit on 0345 520 7007 or email MiPermit help@mipermit.com for assistance.

A £10 administration fee is applicable. You will also need to upload a copy of the Certificate of Insurance for the new vehicle.

If your paper parking permit is lost or stolen, you will need to inform the Parking Permits team by emailing parking.permits@cambridgeshire.gov.uk and we will send you a replacement.  An administration fee may be charged. 

If you wish to cancel your resident parking permit, please email parking.permits@cambridgeshire.gov.uk stating the reason for cancellation and the resident permit number.  We make refunds for each whole quarter remaining on the permit, after we deduct an administration fee.

Permits are not required on a bank holiday.

Where a resident is a disabled person who holds a Blue Badge, the Blue Badge acts as a permit for as long as the Blue Badge is valid. You must display the Blue Badge in a vehicle parked in a Resident Parking Scheme with the badge number and expiry date visible.

Any vehicle displaying a valid Blue Badge can park without any time limit and free of charge within:

• A designated resident permit scheme holders' area
• Limited waiting parking bays
• Pay and display bays

Residents holding a valid permit may apply for a Resident Courtesy Car permit to temporarily replace their current vehicle while it is out of service for maintenance or repairs. Please log in to your MiPermit account and select Resident Courtesy Car Permit to obtain a temporary parking permit.

If you need access to free Wi-Fi, a computer, or a scanner to upload documents, you may visit your nearest local library: Cambridge Central, Arbury Court, Barnwell Road, Cherry Hinton, Milton Road and Rock Road. Please note that library staff are unable to provide assistance or support with MiPermit. You will need to contact the MiPermit helpdesk on 0345 520 7007 for assistance with your application or to help you purchase permits. Once registered, you can purchase and manage your permits over the telephone by contacting the MiPermit helpdesk on 0345 520 7007, Monday to Friday – 8am to 6pm, Saturday 8am to 4pm, Sunday 10am to 4pm. The lines are open 10am-4pm on bank holidays. Lines are closed on Christmas Day.

If you have any problems using the online form, please ask a family member or friend to assist you with your application. Alternatively, please post your proof of residency to Parking Permits, PO Box 761, Huntingdon, PE29 9QR along with your name, address and a contact telephone number. Upon receipt, a member of the Parking Permits team will telephone you and help you to register you for a MiPermit account. Once registered you will be able to telephone MiPermit on 0345 520 7007 to purchase and manage your parking permits. The MiPermit helpdesk is available Monday to Friday – 8am to 6pm, Saturday 8am to 4pm, Sunday 10am to 4pm. The lines are open 10am-4pm on bank holidays. Lines are closed on Christmas Day.

If your permit application has been rejected, you will receive an email confirming why. Any payment made will be automatically returned to your bank and you will need to submit a new application with the correct documentation via the MiPermit portal.

Please do not email proofs to Parking Permits . Please do not park in the marked Resident Permit Holder Only bays until you have received an email to confirm your application is successful as you may receive a Penalty Charge Notice.

Your vehicle is not permitted to park in the Resident Permit holder bays until you have received an email notification to confirm your permit application is successful, as you may receive a Penalty Charge Notice. We aim to process all applications received within 24 hours, however, during busy periods this may take longer.
