Programme of work

Installation of separation fencing
Separation fencing was installed along a section of the busway near Cambridge Rail Station in 2024. This fencing is 1.5m high and includes emergency access gates at regular intervals. The installation of separation fencing has been completed between Long Road bridge and the Addenbrooke’s spur.
The separation fencing is almost complete on the Trumpington Spur. There are a few small sections where non-standard fencing panels are required - these will be installed and this section completed in the next few weeks.
Phases 4 and 5
Work will start on phases 4 and 5, the Addenbrookes Spur, on Sunday 1 March. Phases 4 and 5 will be completed between March and May 2026. The maintenance track, the path that runs alongside the busway, will be closed for the duration of these works.
There will be a full closure of the Addenbrookes Spur on Sunday 1 March. From Monday 2 March, one lane of the Busway will remain open for buses heading towards Addenbrooke’s and the Biomedical Campus, with diversions in place for buses travelling from the campus towards Trumpington Park & Ride and Cambridge Station.
A diversion route for pedestrians and cyclists travelling from Trumpington Park & Ride will be in place, via Hobsons Avenue, Addenbrookes Road and Francis Crick Avenue. If heading south to the Campus from Cambridge Station, you may prefer to go via Long Road and Robinson Way.
