Improvements and planned maintenance will take place from Trumpington Park & Ride to Pagram Way, Cambridge (near Orchard Park).

Installation of separation fencing
Separation fencing was installed along a section of the busway near Cambridge Rail Station in 2024. This fencing is 1.5m high and includes emergency access gates at regular intervals.
Works on the section between Orchard Park and Cambridge North station will be carried out between February and June 2026.
The installation of separation fencing has been completed between Long Road bridge and the Addenbrooke’s spur. Works on phase 2 between Trumpington Park & Ride and Hobson’s Avenue started on Monday 17 November 2025.
Please note phase 2 diversion information:
- Route A – St Ives buses - From Trumpington, Route A buses will leave the park and ride site and join Addenbrookes Road. They will serve Hobson Avenue for Foster Road. From here they will join Francis Crick Avenue and then onto Robinson Way serving a temporary stop. Buses will rejoin at Royal Papworth – Green and Gardens. Please note only one stop on Green and Gardens will be served, for buses towards the Rail Station and St Ives only.
- Route A – Trumpington Park & Ride Buses – From the Rail Station, buses will travel down Francis Crick Avenue onto Robinson Way and serve a temporary stop located near the zebra crossing. Buses will resume the normal route at the hospital until they reach Puddicombe Way. From here they will turn left onto Robinson Way and then will take the third exit back onto Francis Crick. Buses will join Addenbrookes Road and will then serve Hobson Avenue where there will a temporary stop for Foster Road. Both Foster Road stops will be suspended.
Phase 3 works between Hobson’s Avenue and the Addenbrooke’s spur and on part of the Addenbrooke’s bridge will take place between November 2025 and April 2026.
This will be followed by works at the Busway/Addenbrooke’s spur junction, Phase 4, between April to August 2026.
Phase 5, the remainder of the Addenbrooke’s spur, will also be completed between April and August 2026. Different diversion routes will be in place for the various phases of works.
