The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) requires us to prepare an annual Local Aggregate Assessment (LAA). It is jointly prepared by officers from:

  • Cambridgeshire County Council
  • Peterborough City Council

with input from members of the East of England Aggregate Working Party.

We use the LAA to meet our obligation to plan for the steady and adequate supply of aggregates.

The LAA provides an annual evaluation of aggregate supply and demand in the county. It is based on a rolling average of the previous 10 years sales data. It includes other relevant information such as:

  • impending infrastructure projects
  • an assessment of all supply options.

National and Sub National Guidelines on future aggregate provision are also considered. The LAA set outs annual apportionment levels based on this data and will be used to manage future supply.

The LAA reports on the effectiveness of the policies in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Minerals and Waste Development Plan Documents (DPD).
