Workforce development fund – Adult social care

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) provides the Workforce Development Fund (WDF). Skills for Care disseminate the funding.

WDF supports the provision of high-quality adult social care. It supports continuing professional development (CPD) of staff across the sector. It does this by providing a contribution towards the costs of vocational learning.

You can claim back money towards the costs of employees completing a broad range of:

  • adult social care qualifications,
  • learning programmes, and
  • digital learning modules.

You can claim up to £2000 per employee during a funding year. There is no set limit per organisation. Skills for Care monitor the funding. This is to ensure fairness for all partner organisations and employers regardless of size.

Go to the Workforce Development Fund (skillsforcare.org.uk) website to find:

  • a detailed list of applicable funding
  • information on how to access the funding
  • steps employers need to take

This includes joining The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough WDF Partnership. The Cambridgeshire County Council Learning and Development Team manage the partnership.

Please note the funding is independent to and not related to any development activities provided by the County Council.
