There will be a change to Cambridgeshire County Council’s opening hours over the Christmas and New Year period.
Customer service centre
Our contact centre will be closed from 5pm on Wednesday, 24 December, to 9am on Friday, 2 January, for all services, with the exception of adult social care, children's social care, and some registration services.
Our reception sites, Awdry House, and New Shire Hall will close on 24 December at 5pm and reopen on 2 January 2026 at 9am.
These services will all be open 9am to 5pm on 29, 30 and 31 December.

Household Recycling Centres
All sites will close at 4pm on New Year’s Eve.
This means St Neots, Wisbech and Witchford will close earlier than usual:
- Christmas Eve (24 December) – all sites close at 1pm
- Christmas Day (25 December) – closed
- Boxing Day (26 December) closed
- New Year’s Eve (31 December) all sites close at 4pm
- New Year’s Day (1 January) closed.
Please note – gates close 10 minutes before published closing time.

Cambridgeshire Libraries
Most Cambridgeshire libraries will be closed from 1pm on Wednesday, 24 December, returning to regular hours from Friday, 2 January, with the following exceptions:
St Ives, Histon, Soham, March and Rock Road libraries have Open+, and opening hours are as follows:
- Wednesday, 24 December: closing early at 1pm
- Thursday, 25 December: closed
- Friday, 26 December: closed
- Saturday, 27 December: 10am to 4pm
- Sunday, 28 December: 10am to 4pm
- Monday, 29 December: 10am to 4pm
- Tuesday, 30 December: 10am to 4pm
- Wednesday, 31 December: 10am to 4pm
- Thursday 1 January: closed.
To use our Open+ out of hours library access, you will need to first register for access via our website.
Cambridge Central Library opening times:
- Thursday, 25 December: closed
- Friday, 26 December: closed
- Saturday, 27 December: 10am to 5pm
- Sunday, 28 December: 12pm to 4pm
- Monday, 29 December: 9.30am to 5pm
- Tuesday, 30 December: 9.30am to 5pm
- Wednesday, 31 December: 9.30am to 5pm
- Thursday, 1 January: closed.
