Introduction
Following planning approval of three large developments in Sawtry, Cambridgeshire County Council (The Council) has identified the need for a new 1 form entry (FE)/210 place, mainstream, 4-11 mixed primary school with a proposed opening date of September 2026.
The school will be built with core facilities to enable it to expand to 2 forms of entry/420 places in line with housing growth and increased pupil numbers. There will also be provision for Early Years (EY) and childcare for children aged 2-4 years.
Meridian Trust
On 5 May 2022, the Council was informed by the Regional Schools Commissioner that Meridian Trust has been given Secretary of State approval to sponsor the proposed new primary free school in Sawtry, Huntingdonshire, under section 6A (the ‘free school presumption’) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006.
