Hourly rate fees increase from 1 April 2024

Please note our hourly rate fees will increase from £80 per hour to £95 per hour on 1 April 2024.

You can find the fees and charges for various Trading Standards services below.

Business advice

Annual fee of four hours; to include three hours of bespoke business advice, with the balance contributing to the overall = £320
Work undertaken under the formal Primary Authority agreement = £80 per hour
Out of county mileage to be charged on Primary Authority related journeys = 45p per mile
Business advice provided outside of a Primary Authority agreement = £80+VAT per hour (charged in 15 minutes intervals)

Certificate of accuracy when requested following routine testing = £40
All equipment and other weights and measures services, including Public Weighbridge Operators = £80 per hour
Additional charge if site visit required = £80 per hour

Fees charged in respect of environmental searches carried out on request will include for up to two hours of officer time = £80 per hour (minimum charge is £40)
Where environmental search requests are made that incur officer's time in excess of two hours, an additional charge of £40 per officer per hour, or part thereof, will be charged.

New application where no minimum separation distance is prescribed (2 year duration) = £147 (£154 from 1 April 2024)

Renewal of licence where no minimum separation distance is prescribed (3 year duration) = £125 (£132 from 1 April 2024)

Varying name of licensee or address of site = £38 (£40 from 1 April 2024)
Any other kind of variation = charged at a reasonable cost to the authority of having the work carried out
Transfer of licence or registration = £38 (£40 from 1 April 2024)
Replacement of licence or registration referred to above if lost = £38 (£40 from 1 April 2024)
Extended fireworks licence - annual licence to sell fireworks outside of the permitted periods as stated = £500

Annual fee to keep petroleum spirit of a quantity not exceeding 2,500 litres = £45 per year up to a period of ten years
Annual fee to keep petroleum spirit of a quantity exceeding 2,500 litres but not exceeding 50,000 litres = £61 per year up to a period of ten years
Annual fee to keep petroleum spirit of a quantity exceeding 50,000 litres = £128 per year up to a period of ten years

Manufacture only, or manufacture and placing on the market, of feed additives referred to in Article 10(1)(a) of Regulation 183/2005 other than those specified in Regulation 2(3), or of premixtures of such additives (Approvals) = £451 one-off payment
Placing on the market of feed additives referred to in Article 10(1)(a) of Regulation 183/2005 other than those specified in Regulation 2(3), or of premixtures of such (Approvals) = £226 one-off payment
