The Know Your Neighbourhood Fund (KYN) is helping Fenland libraries bring people together through community groups, activities and volunteering opportunities. Discover what's happening at your local library and find out how you can get involved.
About the fund
In January 2023, the government confirmed the launch of the KYN Fund. It was a funding package of up to £30 million. Its aim was to widen participation in volunteering and tackle loneliness in 27 disadvantaged areas across England. Fenland is one of the areas benefiting from this funding.
How are Fenland libraries getting involved?
We asked local communities what they wanted from their libraries through surveys and community cafés. Their feedback helped shape a wide range of events and groups based on local interests and needs.
The project started in Chatteris but we are now continuing this success throughout Fenland.
What's been happening?

Chatteris Library:
- Crafty Natters – every Wednesday, 10.30am-12pm
- Retro Gaming Club (16 years plus) – every second Saturday, 10am-12pm (coming soon)
- Gardening Friends – Every first Friday, 10.30am-12pm (restarting soon)
March Library:
- Gardening Friends – Every first Thursday, 10-11.30am
Whittlesey Library:
- Keep Calm and Colour (Adult Colouring) – every Monday, 10-11am
- Cuppa and Company – every Wednesday, 10-11am
- Retro Gaming Club (16 years plus) – every fourth Saturday, 10am-12pm

Wisbech Library:
- Razzle Dazzle (Adult Colouring) – Every Wednesday, 10-11am
