or are a veteran or in a reserve role, and have a child with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND), we’re here to help.

Frequent moves and changes in school or early years provision and routine can sometimes affect educational progress and friendships. We offer information and support to help your family manage these challenges.

We understand that parents can be away from home and family for significant periods of time, often with limited contact. This can be be unsettling to your children. We also recognise an increased risk of your child experiencing loss and trauma relating to a parent's front-line service role.

Families Information Service (FIS)

The Families Information Service Childcare and early learning sits within CambsEYC. It gives impartial information and support for service families looking for childcare. They also explain funding options. For families with children with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) they offer Childcare Brokerage Service SEND.

Childcare Brokerage Service – 0-25 (SEND)

The Childcare Brokerage Service SEND can support our Armed Forces Community who are parents with children and young people with Special Educational Needs or Disability (SEND) 0-25, to find suitable childcare. This free service is tailored to families’ individual requirements.

How we can help

  • If your child is between 0 and 5 years old, the service can talk to childcare providers for you. We will check for vacancies and discuss your needs with them to find options for you to consider.
  • We can help parents of older children and young people with SEND find appropriate wraparound childcare. We can also assist in identifying holiday childcare and activities.
  • We can help parents identify childcare funding options.
