Driving can open up more opportunities and help you travel independently. We offer financial support towards learning to drive or ride for eligible care leavers.
We can support you with the costs of learning to drive or ride. You must be:
- aged 17 and over
- have been in education, training, or employment for at least 6 months
We will fund your provisional driving licence and one theory test.
If you pass your theory test, we will fund £700 towards driving lessons and one practical driving test.
Alternatively, we can fund a compulsory basic training (CBT) course, which allows you to ride a moped or motorcycle on the road.
Remember: It can take around 45 hours of lessons for people to pass their driving test, so you will have to fund some of the lessons yourself.
