Who is this page for?
The information and form are for people who want to report suspected misuse of a Blue Badge in Cambridgeshire.
Misusing a Blue Badge is a criminal offence and deprives our customers of essential resources. We rely on your vigilance to help us detect and deter fraudulent practices throughout Cambridgeshire.
If you suspect a Blue Badge is being misused you should obtain as many details as possible from the Blue Badge on display such as name, badge number and the expiry date. Then complete the online form below.
This form is not for reporting Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) benefits fraud. For that, contact the DWP National Benefit Fraud Hotline at 0800 854 440 or report it online.
What will the council do?
We will investigate and take appropriate action if misuse is confirmed. Fraudulent applications (providing false information) may lead to prosecution under section 2 of the Fraud Act 2006. This carries a penalty of up to £5,000 and/or up to 12 months' imprisonment on summary conviction.
Please note, we cannot provide updates on misuse reports made to Cambridgeshire County Council.
Is the report confidential?
Yes, any personal details you provide will be treated in strict confidence and will not be shared without lawful authority.
Online report misuse form
Please ensure you have as many details as possible from the Blue Badge on display such as name, badge number and the expiry date. When ready follow the below link to complete the online misuse form.
Enforcement and inspection
We are not authorised to enforce the Blue Badge scheme on private property. For example, suspected misuse in supermarkets should be reported to the car park operator.
We work closely with the police and parking services. Police officers, traffic wardens, parking attendants and civil enforcement officers have the authority to inspect the badge. They should produce an identity card with their photograph to prove their identity.
Civil Enforcement Officers may operate in plain clothes. If asked to show the badge, you must comply, or you could be fined up to £1,000. Enforcement officers can retain the badge without police presence if they have reasonable grounds, such as misuse. The badge will be sent to the Blue Badge Team for further investigation.
What happens if my badge is taken away?
If you are a Cambridgeshire resident and your badge has been confiscated, please allow time for it to be received by the Blue Badge team and for an investigation to take place. The Blue Badge team will contact the badge holder once the process is complete.
