MiPermit frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Who is this information for?
The information is for Cambridge City residents who need to apply and activate parking permits. Including social visitors, medical visitors, and Blue Badge holder visitor permits.
Why have you changed to MiPermit?
MiPermit will enable residents to purchase and activate resident parking permits over the telephone (landline or mobile) via the MiPermit helpdesk on 0345 520 7007 or online via the MiPermit web portal, at their own convenience. Cambridge City resident and visitor parking permits will now be virtual so you will no longer need to display a paper permit in the windscreen of the vehicle.
How do I apply for a new parking permit?
You will need to register or create an account with MiPermit before applying for a parking permit. To register please visit Cambridgeshire County Council Digital Permits and Cashless Parking (mipermit.com). Once registered you will be able to purchase, manage and activate your parking permits via the MiPermit web portal. The MiPermit app will allow you to manage and activate your parking permits only.
I have an email address but no internet access, how do I register with MiPermit?
If you need access to free Wi-Fi, a computer, or a scanner to upload documents, you may visit your nearest local library: Cambridge Central, Arbury Court, Barnwell Road, Cherry Hinton, Milton Road and Rock Road. Please note that library staff are unable to provide assistance or support with MiPermit. You will need to contact the MiPermit helpdesk on 0345 520 7007 for assistance with your application or to help you purchase permits. Once registered, you can purchase and manage your permits over the telephone by contacting the MiPermit helpdesk on 0345 520 7007, Monday to Friday – 8am to 6pm, Saturday 8am to 4pm, Sunday 10am to 4pm. The lines are open 10am-4pm on bank holidays. Lines are closed on Christmas Day.
I have no email and no internet access, how do I register with MiPermit?
Please post your proof of residency to Parking Permits, PO Box 761, Huntingdon, PE29 9QR along with your name, address and a contact telephone number. Upon receipt, a member of the Parking Permits team will telephone you and help you to register you for a MiPermit account. Once registered, you can purchase and manage your permits over the telephone by contacting MiPermit on 0345 520 7007, Monday to Friday – 8am to 6pm, Saturday 8am to 4pm, Sunday 10am to 4pm. The lines are open 10am-4pm on bank holidays. Lines are closed on Christmas Day.
I already have a MiPermit account, do I need to re-register?
Yes, to purchase Cambridge City resident parking permits you will need to register via the Cambridgeshire County Council Digital Permits and Cashless Parking (mipermit.com).
Can I still purchase paper visitor parking permits?
Paper visitor parking permits are no longer available to purchase. Visitor parking permits are now digital. Please register or create an account with MiPermit to apply.
How will families share permits between family members?
Each resident is allowed 20 visitor parking permits per annum. When registering for a MiPermit account, there is the option to 'Set Up Members and Vehicles'. This function will enable you to link accounts within the same household.

My resident parking permit has expired and I cannot renew it, what do I do?
You will need to register and create an account with MiPermit before applying for a parking permit. To register please visit Cambridgeshire County Council Digital Permits and Cashless Parking (mipermit.com).
